keiretsu

my band. a 9-piece dance music fusionism behemoth, blending full-freqency drum'n'bass, breakbeat, and 4/4 with rock, jazz, folk, latin, ska, world, and more besides. on stage, i play keyboards/synths and alto sax. off-stage, i play a fairly major part in the composition, engineering and production, photography, artwork, design, PR bumpf and online presence.

hipnotic

this was my primary 'solo' project - albeit one with lots of collaborations. in a nutshell, you could call it psy-ambient drumnbass. it mixed spacious ambient/progressive drum'n'bass with a dose of psy/goa trance and world flavours, often topped off with vocals or instruments.

also under the hipnotic alias, i produce roughly-annual chillout mixes. encompassing all manner of cinematic ambient, idm, dub, and downtempo flavours.

in 2003-2004 i went through a strange phase of making almost nothing but goa/psytrance. then it stopped as suddenly as it began, and i returned to dnb/breakbeat stuff. a few tunes from that project did get signed, however, which i suppose i should plug:

dragon base all stars

somewhere around 2000-2003, me and tim (keiretsu guitarist) ran this tongue-in-cheek project embracing our love of old-school, good-time party funk, electro and hiphop. we made a handful of tunes, roping in fellow keiretsu members jim and james on horns and bass, but mostly operated as a b2b dj crew with residencies in newcastle, carlisle and durham. the project is pretty much RIP now we're in london.
